Goat Visits TOTS

The Central Citizens’ Library District TOTS program had a special visitor on Friday, Feb. 24th. The TOTS were able to see, pet, and learn about a baby goat. The goat was brought in by Lori and Rodney Meyer of Hillside Stock Farm in Chebanse. The preschool children really enjoyed feeling the different textures of its coat and ears. They saw how goats have bottom teeth, but none on the top, and they talked about what it eats. After playing with the baby goat, the TOTS listened to the story “The Three Billy Goats Gruff” as well as several stories written and illustrated by the Central High School Creative Writing class. The craft project for the day was a goat puppet. The CCLD TOTS program is held every Friday at 10:00AM with a repeat of the program on Tuesday evenings at 6:30 PM. CCLD Adult Book Club

This month's CCLD Adult Book Club selection is "Uprising" by Margaret Peterson Haddix. The book club will meet on Tuesday, January 24th, at 2:00 PM. Books are available for checkout at the library. New members are always welcome!

Peter Fletcher, Classical Guitarist

Peter Fletcher is a critically acclaimed classical guitarist. We are very pleased to welcome him back to Central Citizens' Library to perform for us on Tuesday, May 17, at 6:30 PM in the Central High School auditorium. Mr. Fletcher has toured the world playing his guitar at over 100 concerts each year. In the tradition of Segovia, Fletcher believes in expanding the repertoire of guitar music by transcribing music from other instruments, making his music a unique and exciting experience.

Freedom Quilts Program

Join Dr. Clarice Boswell on Saturday, May 14, at 10:00 AM, as she tells the historical story of quilts made by African-American slaves before the Civil War. She will discuss the significance of the hidden codes that enabled the slaves to safely travel the Underground Railroad to freedom. Quilts sewn by local seamstresses will also be on display throughouth the library. This free program will be held in the handicap accessible Fine Arts room of Nash Middle School. Library Trustee Pre-Filing Notice

Notice is hereby given that the office of Connie Hitchens and Pam Hanson, Local Election Official and assistant, will be open from 8:00 AM to 4:00 PM beginning Monday, December 13, 2010, through 5:00 PM on Monday, December 20, 2010, for the purpose of accepting candidate petitions or certificates for the Consolidated election to be held on Tuesday, April 5, 2011, for the office of Library Trustee for the Central Citizens’ Library District. Three Trustee positions, each with a four-year term, are to be filled.
